Bachelor’s degree in Language Mediation for Translation and Liaison Interpreting (L-12 Linguistic Mediation)

Educational Objectives

The degree program in “Linguistic Mediation for Translation and Liaison Interpreting” is designed to equip students with a thorough understanding of methods, cultural and scientific knowledge, and the skills necessary for working in three foreign languages. The focus is on linguistic mediation, liaison interpreting, and translation, in compliance with both national and European standards. Specifically, graduates are expected to acquire the following key skills:

  • Effective communication, as well as interlinguistic and intercultural proficiency, in both Italian and three foreign languages.
  • Technical expertise in both written and oral translation and linguistic mediation.
  • Knowledge across cultural-literary, legal-economic, and socio-historical fields.
  • The ability to use modern communication and information management tools.
  • Strong organizational autonomy, enabling them to quickly adapt to professional work environments.

Professional Profile

Graduates are prepared for careers as linguistic mediators in international relations, whether in interpersonal settings or within international organizations, institutions, and businesses.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can work independently or as employees in linguistic and intercultural roles within national and international companies, institutions, organizations, and both public and private entities. Their tasks may include linguistic mediation, liaison interpreting, translation, document research, and drafting texts in national or international contexts.

Further Study Opportunities

According to the provisions of Ministerial Decree 38/2002, the degree in “Linguistic Mediation for Translation and Liaison Interpreting” qualifies graduates for entry into Master’s programs in the LM-38 class of Modern Languages for Communication and Cooperation. It also grants access to University Master’s programs that require a degree in the L-12 class.
