SSML Gonzaga is in the process of finalizing bilateral agreements with several European universities. For the 2024/25 academic year, the available destinations for all three-degree programs in Language Mediation Studies will be listed in the section “Available Destinations”.
FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION
The European Union provides a “mobility grant” to support students during their time abroad.
The first portion of the grant is disbursed prior to departure, within 30 days of signing the mobility agreement, while the remaining amount is provided upon the student’s return.
Grant recipients will continue to pay tuition fees to UniverMantova, while the insurance included with enrolment at SSML Gonzaga will remain valid throughout their study abroad period.
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Here you’ll find the link to the Call for European and International Mobility for study purposes for the 2025/2026 academic year, along with other useful documents for applying to this program.
STUDY ABROAD PERIOD
Students enrolled at SSML Gonzaga (including part-time students) in the Language Mediation Sciences program can study at a partner university for a period of at least three months and up to twelve months, starting from their second year.
The duration of the stay is determined by a Bilateral Agreement between the two universities, which outlines the academic areas involved and ensures that credits earned abroad will be recognized.
Exams taken at the host university are validated based on how closely they match the courses in the SSML Gonzaga curriculum, in terms of content and credit points. Each student’s Learning Agreement will be approved by the Erasmus Coordinator.
SELECTION PROCESS
Students who wish to apply must go through a motivational interview (in English) and indicate their preferred study destination. The interview is held in person at SSML Gonzaga and is organized by the Erasmus Committee. After the interviews, a ranking is published, which considers academic merit (based on GPA), language proficiency, and motivation.
Since language skills can be a key factor in the selection process, students are encouraged to check whether their chosen destination requires specific language certifications.
The final ranking will be posted on the SSML Gonzaga website. Selected students will receive an email notification and must confirm their acceptance of the destination by emailing ares@unimn.it.
The Erasmus Office will then provide information on signing the Learning Agreement.
If a student decides to withdraw, they should inform the Erasmus Office (ares@unimn.it) so the opportunity can be offered to another student on the waiting list.
FORMS
ACCOMODATION FORM
Some European universities offer support to Erasmus students in finding accommodation. It is important to check the website of the university you have been selected for and see if there is an “Accommodation Form” or “Housing Form” to complete.
APPLICATION FORM
Erasmus grant recipients must download the “Application Form” from the host university’s website. Each university has its own application process and form, so it’s important to check in advance the submission requirements and deadlines. Once registered, Erasmus students will receive all the necessary information regarding accommodation and Erasmus program activities.
LEARNING AGREEMENT
The Learning Agreement must be approved by the exchange coordinator. This agreement ensures that the courses chosen at the partner university align with the content and objectives of the student’s study plan and curriculum at SSML Gonzaga.
Once the Learning Agreement has been signed by the Erasmus coordinator at UniverMantova, it should also be signed by the host university coordinator.
For help and support in completing the necessary forms before their departure, students can schedule an appointment with the Erasmus Office by emailing ares@unimn.it.
AT THE PARTNER UNIVERSITY
Upon arrival at the host university, Erasmus students must complete the Confirmation of Arrival Form (or mobility form). Since each university usually has its own specific forms, it is important to contact the local Erasmus coordinator to request them. Once the form is completed, it should be sent via email to ares@unimn.it.
At the end of the study period abroad, students are expected to email the following documents to the Erasmus Office (ares@unimn.it): the Certificate of Attendance, signed by the host university, the Learning Agreement, and the Transcript of Records (a list of exams taken, grades received, and corresponding credits)
Upon returning to Italy, the exams taken abroad will be reviewed by the Erasmus Committee. If the grades are not on a 30-point scale, the committee will convert and recognize them accordingly.
After the committee’s approval, students will receive their grades via email, which they can either accept by sending an acceptance email to ares@unimn.it or reject if unsatisfied. Once accepted, the student office will officially record the grades.
